Resting ~ Dancing (2021)
An ongoing dance, research, protest, rest:
I’ve been re-jigging what performance means to me.
Dancing as a way to rest. Along the way I’ve begun working deeper with qi gong, fascia, somatics, embodied activism, and dancing with my ancestors… Learning to practice improvisation that directly regenerates me rather than depletes me.
Throughout the lockdowns I’ve practiced at different times of night and day, as my body urged me to. In 2022 it has helped shape a performance with Kiota Collective (Wardrobe Theatre) and this dance at a Diverse Artist Network gathering (Knowle West Media Centre) as shown in this video. …Turn up your speakers to hear the words!
