Lying Down 躺平 (2024)
A collaboration between Howl Yuan and Jan-Ming Lee to explore the notion of lying down. In this performative practice, they are interested in its physicality, its social and political means, and how it is practised as the human condition. Howl and Jan-Ming are concerned with lying down as a life status, as an emotional rooting process, as social resistance, and also as a form of care.
“We can stay till the very last moment.
Till the light goes off.
Till the sound stop.
Till we run out every kind of emotions.
Till our breath becomes wind and our body becomes hills
I touch you I smell you I feel you…”
